How do you grow your audience? There really isn’t a way to shortcut this step. You have to be good and you have to be consistent. We could end there really, it is as simple as that.
Of course, if an influencer with one million followers releases a podcast, then a good percentage of their fans will listen to it. But even they still have to core principles to grow their podcast audience, which is probably exactly what they did to grow their social media following.
But how do you make a ‘good podcast’ and what do we mean by being consistent? Well, first and foremost you need to ensure you’re minimising switch off points. Bad quality audio from the guest because you haven’t sent them a microphone? That’s a switch off point. Long winded intros and waffly conversation? Switch off points. Audio that hasn’t been edited well or correctly treated so it’s difficult to listen to in a car because one guest is louder than the other? Another switch off point.
When we produce podcasts we ensure there are as few switch off points as possible. So, once you’ve got the artwork looking great and the title is enticing enough to have someone’s index finger hover over the play button, the audio and content doesn’t let you down.
